Wonderful wonderful weekend in old K-Town. The Man ran, we went for the greasiest breakfast EVER but oh so yummy. Then a walk up the hill to pick up The Boy's latest obsession Captain Underpants. One of those kids series that realizes that parents are reading along too. And it is utterly silly, self-aware and very silly. And, I must admit I love them too. Really this one rates up there with Frankenstein Makes a Sandwich. You just have to love it when after the 1000th reading you are still finding new things to laugh at.
Like Frankenstein junior holing a blanket while sucking his thumb, a la Linus. Tres cool. And yes, I can recite most of it by heart. Love this. (I think I've written about this before.)
I picked up Michael Ondaatje latest novel. And I am very afraid. Because I love him that much. But if you haven't everyone should read In the Skin of the Lion. Ondaatje prose is like a chocolate truffle, decadently rich, sinful and you want to savour every last morsel. Because his novels don't come often. In this case... I am even afraid to unwrap it.
