Garlic and sesame oil -- A clarification

In keeping with this week's theme of infectious but not fatal issues in our household, The Man would like to clarify very important point about his ear remedy. 

The garlic is used for pain relief. He said that "minutes" after his put the garlic in his ears, the pain went away. Coincidentally this was about 30 minutes after he took another dose of ibuprofen -- but I am sure that has nothing to do with his pain relief. At all. Just one of those things.
