My friend (and hairdresser) put me onto eMusic.com. Sort of meeting place for any number of non-iTunes related music. The fun fun fun alternative stuff. (Price point wise, it's cheaper than iTunes.) I was thinking about this as I was driving to work this morning.
I credit President Obama for freeing up the neurons worried that his predecessor was going some sort of nucelar annihilation or you know deciding that Canadians were evil, and water-boarding us all until we admitted that Santa Claus head of a sleeper cell in the north pole. (God knows some of the rumours of Canadian lawyers going state side to visit Kahdr are plenty frightening enough.)
Where were we... oh yeah... music. I downloaded Bruce Springsteen's cover of Suicide's Dream Baby Dream. The interface encourages browsing. Sort of the way, it has a and old school record store kind of feeling. I also picked up a Cat Power EP and Land of Talks latest. What's old is new again...
Like hearing that the president called the Palestinian, Israeli and Jordan and Egypt today -- diplomacy. Let's talk. Then stopping the trials at Guantanamo, just until he could figure out what was going on... good idea.
And Springsteen playing on the radio.
