Guitar Lovers Running Club
Well, my google reader has been full of stories from all of us up here and down there and all around who are definitely feeling a bit sad. Truth is I didn't run at all this week. Scheduling played a part for sure, but I'm still having a hell of a time getting my ass out the door, in fact I'm having a hard time get this ass off the couch.
Yes, I did forget the vitamin D tablet most of the week. I'm not sure it's making much of a difference. I got some not atrocious but disappointing news professionally. And well, I ran today. I forgot to charge both Mike and the TOG (The Old Garmin.) Seems it took me about 75 minutes. Mostly it was about just moving. It was a good run, in spite of the snow, and the wind. Stupid wind. Still, I got off out the warmth of the house.
I need to be reminded to really check the forecast. I got cold. So cold it hurt. I definitely needed a shell. I'm silly, it's been warm all week. I didn't check before I headed off into the distance.
Way back before Facebook messed up their News Feed, I signed up for this thing call RunLogger. It serves no purpose except tap into the geek that I really am. I just log distance. I started religiously keeping track in August of 2007. Now I sit 47-odd miles short of the big 1,000. There is no way, I am finishing 2008 without having cross that marker.
On my last run with G., we both remarked that we would both be sitting on the couch if it weren't for the fact that we'd promised the other we would run. I wondered if maybe just maybe some sort of virtual motivation would work too. More of an operation, "Well, I hate to disappoint G. so I'm going to go out and get my run in tonight."
I'm calling it the Guitar Lovers Running Club. (Because I'm not so much about the crappy dance music.) I'm still working a little tag for the site. Well, the idea is simply to get me from 6 miles this week to well closer to 20. Realizing that I will die if I attempt 20 this week. I'm aiming for a more reasonable 18 (give or take). Let me know, if you'll be joining me and I'll give you mad props in my race reports.
Tuesday: 3 miles
Thurday: 3
Saturday: 6.2 mile
(Including today's 6 -- that brings the total to 18.)
So... will you run with me?

That is so awesome to hit the 1000 before the end of the year. You can do it, Nat!!
Facebook, I think I am the last one on earth to not have Facebook. even my Mom has a Facebook page.

1,000 ??? Holy moly! Looks like you will get to that milestone by the end of the year. Hat off to you for getting out there in the frigid weather.

Good for you getting back out in the cold!! I hate the wind too, it really sucks the life out of you. You'll definitely hit that 1000 mark before the end of the year.
How do you like Mike? I so want a Mike of my own.....

HI Nat
I don't know why, but whenever I read your posts I always end up laughing. I think it is because even as I am reading the words I am really hearing you say them. Does that make any sense at all?
You get that 1000 miles and that is a great accomplishment in anybody's book.
Best of luck with all things running and not running. I think that covers it...

I'll run with you. If my stomach weren't completely ruined I'd even offer to get drunk with you to celebrate the 1,000!
