A propos of nothing at all:
The Boy is in the bath and he'd like to know why Scoobie Doo walks on all fours while Scrappy Doo walks on his hind legs? Very valid question.
If one goes away on vacation for two weeks and hires a family member/contractor to do the floors when can one actually expect the project to be completed? (Actual estimate was roughly a week after we got back.)
Has anyone actually ever received a reassessment from the Canada Revenu Agency that was in their favour? (This year's damage $775. )
This profile of McCain in Rolling Stone does it make one iota of a difference to anyone? (You know he must really have a temper when EVERY one mentions his temper. I mean it's all egos in politics, they all have tempers.)
Canadian election on Tuesday, it's an early birthday present to Hilly. Woohoo Hilly! For you I will vote for... the incumbent. Is this going to make one iota of a difference?
Ever read a book, enjoy it all the way through until you got to the last chapter and you wanted to call out "No Fair!!!" -- any good book recommendations.
Album of the Moment is once again Wintersleep's Welcome to the Night sky. I think I have a crush on the lead singer's voice. It seems so earnest. (Interesting arrangements as well.) Definitely worth a listen....
There is a post. It just needs more brain power than I have.
Ha, same question for Pluto vs Goofy methinks ;-)

I think that if everyone mentions McCain's temper, then he has the kind in which the person throws the nearest object at the subject of their ire. I have this kind of temper but I learned to stop throwing things as a kid. That's why I'm also a big fan of the marinating thing. If you force me to speak when the anger first hits, I am likely to say some very cruel things. I know how to go for the jugular.
I know what you mean about the book thing. The last book I finished -- "The Dirty Secrets Club" by Meg Gardiner -- was great. If you're into mysteries. The main character does psychological autopsies. OK and I'm biased because it's set in San Francisco.

My only response to your questions is try and avoid hiring a family member for renovations if at all possible! Check out this story about one reno gone bad as a result of the best intentions and family construction: http://www.thestar.com/article/500549
And thanks for the comment you left on my blog re: the Turkey Trot! Although I am not ready to race this weekend on account of the sore foot, I think my son will love to run the 1.0k race and we are very much looking forward to the event! Cheers!

Oh boy, if we're going to talk about cartoon anomalies - why does Mickey Mouse wear pants, but Donald Duck doesn't? Why does Goofy, who's a dog, have a pet dog, Pluto? And why can Goofy talk, wear clothes, live in a house, drive a car, but Pluto is just like a dog?Why is the squirrel, Rocky half the size of a Moose, Bullwinkle? Why doesn't Wile E. Coyote just send out for groceries if he's got all that money to buy ACME equipment? ... maybe explain the concept of "suspension of disbelief"...

"Ever read a book, enjoy it all the way through until you got to the last chapter and you wanted to call out "No Fair!!!" - YES!! I detest predictable endings or formulaic writing. I feel so let down when I've invested hours of my life for that! Gah!
I just finished a couple of books by Freya North - don't know if she's got up there yet but I really enjoyed them.

Two recommendations:
Never renovate anything. Ever. It always goes bad. Or costs too much. Sorry, but I'm a confirmed pessimist on this topic. Check back in 20 years from now. I'll be living in squalor, because if I can't fix it (and I can't fix anything), it's not getting done.
As for a book? I rarely read fiction but "The Secret Life of Bees" is just delightful. I thought of it because it's coming out as a movie. Perhaps it will be delightful, too, but read the book.

I am laughing at XUP's comment. I have often thought the same things myself. I asked my son why Scrappy Doo walked on his hind legs and he said :" Because he's a pup.' Glad I could clear that up for you.
I sympathise about the floors. I have been there. It'll be done by Christmas, right?
I am reading a brilliant book at the moment called The Memory Of Stones by one of my favourite Irish writers, Kate O'Riordan. She writes in a very visual, poetic way. I would recommend anything she writes.

I read all the time, but generally they are mysteries and I have yet to have an "oh, wow" moment for awhile now.
I'm sure Hilly will be thrilled!
Fall is finally hitting here... hope the cold/whatever goes fast for you.

Great, now I won't be able to sleep tonight.
Maybe it's because Scrappy has puppy power.
