This is a photo of a very large skull on the roof of my car. Sublime and ridiculous. I'm sure you heard the rumours around Hintonburg and they are, in fact, true. I registered a business, bought a domain name, I put a giant foamcore skull on my car. Been that kind of week people. Odd. Scary. All that. (More to come on the first two at a later date.) I just happen to get a tremendous amount of satisfaction from this pic. Blogs all about over sharing. (FYI, said skull is now enjoying some quite time on the couch before I put him away again until Halloween.) The phallic fire hydrants haven't yet been installed, so what is a girl to do to keep herself amused. (Don't answer that.)
All to say, I'm out there taking photos. Making do. (Yes, I promise to take photos of the hydrants.)
Speaking of photos, I need your help. Lynn over at Turtlehead and organizer extraordinaire said she was looking for photos for Blog Out Loud Ottawa and I volunteered. Full of first BOLO for me. This will be my first time showing off photos. Scary folks. Very scary. Stop and look ok? Say nice to me... that's the rule. (Good paper might be a nice fall back.)
What to show is the question. I have received a tremendous amount of positive feedback from Kapgar's Photo Scavenger Hunt. Kevin posted a series of song lyrics, then we went out took photos. (The full set is on Flickr!) Hence, I'd like to use photos from the Hunt and add a few more to it.
Here's where you come in. It's no fun if I pick the song lyrics. Hence, if you could, post a lyric from a song and I'll do what I can to interpret. Favourite photos will end up in the show and all the photos will be posted here...
Pretty please... just a couple lines.
Where to begin?
"Who gave u permission to rearrange me
Certainly not me
Who told you that it was alright to love me
Certainly not me"
Certainly by Erykah Badu
"There were rooms of forgiveness
In the house that we shared
But that space has been emptied
Of whatever was there"
Consider Me Gone by Sting
These are some of the songs that have always kind of haunted me.

"Going down to Lonesome Town
Where the broken hearts stay
Going down to Lonesome Town
To cry my troubles away"
(Yes, I've been listening to the Pulp Fiction soundtrack FAR too much!)

Oh interesting choice.

Well, it's a rather excellent soundtrack... thanks for this.

Your photos are awesome. And this is fun! Here are two challenging ones for you ....
"It's a question of lust, it's a question of trust"
- Depeche Mode
"Stripping back the coats
Of lies and deception
Back to nothingness
Like a week in the desert"
-- Crowded House
Looking forward to seeing the results - whatever lyrics are picked!

A business? A domain? Foam skulls? Whatever can it all mean? Details, details, details please ;-) And a lyric, only too happy to oblige:
"Let me hear you make decisions, without your television" -- Depeche Mode, Stripped.

News to come soon, I promise.
Possibly my favourite Depeche Mode song ever.

This one was banging around in my head this morning. My apologies in advance.
Did you boogie with your baby in the back row of the movie show
And did you boogie there cause you had nowhere else that you could go
And when the lights went way down low
Did you forget about the picture show
Yes, did you boogie with your baby in the back row of the movie show
Hey, little girl was it so long ago
We'd take a walk just to be alone
And hey little girl if it should rain or snow
Remember where we would go

Well darkness has a hunger that's insatiable
And lightness has a call that's hard to hear
I wrap my fear around me like a blanket
I sailed my ship of safety til I sank it
I'm crawling on your shore...
-Closer to Fine, Indigo Girls

Ooooh good one.

I'm intrigued about the significance of the skull - mobile funeral director? Traveling anthropologist? Portable tattoo parlor? Can't wait to hear more.
Here is my line:
'Everyday I look at the world from my window'
- Waterloo Sunset, The Kinks.
I have another:
'Sittin' in the mornin' sun
I'll be sittin' in the evening calm...'
-The Dock of The Bay
I chose these because they are lyrics I could write stories to. I figured they would work just as well with photos.

I'm going to have to spill the beans on the skull, aren't I. LOL.
I like your lyrics choices. :-)
